The final round of the Welsh League was cancelled, which was lucky because we were almost snowed in! This meant that I only had 1 race of the season left, the Welsh champs. I was expecting it to be very muddy as all the snow would melt and make the ground extremely wet. However, arriving at the venue, I realised that this was not the case. During my warm up, the ground was reasonably solid, which slowly turned to mud as more people rode it. I warmed up and got gridded on the front row.
My start was all right, but I lost a few more places then I’d have liked on the first few straights. I was at the front towards the start, but I then got dropped from the front. My legs didn’t feel great and I was in 9th, when I was hoping to finish around 7th. I was caught by the leading U14 riders, Jack Hastings and Huw Buck Jones, and I tried to keep up. I could keep up with Huw but not Jack, he was flying. On the final lap I heard a Snap, and looked down to realise that my saddle had snapped. Luckily it wasn’t too far to the pits, so I could change onto my MTB. It was a lot harder on the other bike, and I was concerned I’d get caught by another rider. I gave it everything on that last lap and finished 9th, further down then I would’ve liked but there was no way I could’ve tried any harder.
