This was the second race at Pembrey this season, on a similar course to the year before. We were a bit late arriving at the venue, so my warm up had to be done while riding the course. There was a lot of long, fast sections, which I was pleased about, and there were also 2 barriers.  The course wasn’t too technical, and there was just one section where I had to fully concentrate on what line to take. As there was a National Trophy race, my name was called out first, which is something I’ve never experienced before!

My start didn’t go to plan because I missed my pedal twice, but just after the start straight I was in 2nd. I struggled to keep up, and after the first lap I was dropped.  The next couple of laps were spent trying to get away from the rider in 3rd, but towards the end of the third lap I had a bigger advantage. I struggled on the last lap, and nearly got caught by the leading U14. Luckily I still had something left in my legs to push on to the finish line and come 2nd. This meant that I was now extremely close to reaching my target of 2nd overall.
