After missing Round 5 I wanted a good result to make up for it. After arriving at the course, we found that it was muddy, very muddy. There was a long climb which suited me, but there was also a lot of mud and 2 hurdles to get over. The course possibly didn’t suit me as well as some of the other courses raced so far, but I was optimistic on the start line.
After crossing through the finish line for the first time I encountered a major problem, the other riders could Bunny-Hop both of the hurdles and I couldn’t. This meant that I was losing time twice a lap to something that I couldn’t control. My legs didn’t feel good either, and I was struggling to keep up with riders that I could usually beat. About halfway through I encountered another problem, my gears got clogged with mud and would no longer change. I lost even more time, and had to change to my mountain bike for the last part of the race. After a strong finish, I finished 4th, which I was disappointed with as I thought at the start that I should get on the podium.
